About The Cuisle Cancer Support Centre
The development of the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre was led by a local Hospital Consultant, Mr. Peter Naughton and a very active Board of Directors in 2004. Start-up funding was provided by Laois Hospice, Le Cheile and Laois Cancer Research, three local organisations with a strong commitment to improving cancer care in the region. Initially, the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre opened in rented premises. In 2007, the centre moved to a new, purpose-built premises, at its current location. The bulk of the funding for the new centre came from the local community through a variety of fundraising events. Annual support funding is also generously aided by Laois Hospice and the Irish Cancer Society. Laois County Council. Annual running costs are in the region of €250,000 which is primarily funded by community fundraising. We could not do our work without this local support and we are hugely appreciative of it. Annual support funding is also generously aided by Laois Hospice, Irish Cancer Society, the HSE, the Lottery and Laois County Council.

Board of Directors
A voluntary Board of Directors governs activity in the centre in achieving goals and optimising the use of all resources whilst ensuring high standards of transparency and accountability within necessary legislation and the Irish Charity Regulation guidelines. Our Board of Directors do not profit personally from their role and we very much appreciate their time and commitment. The Board meets on a quarterly basis or intermittently as necessary.
