Our Courses and Programmes

The Cuisle Cancer Support Centre offers many different courses and programmes to help and support everyone affected by a cancer diagnosis.

These include:

Men’s Support Group

This is a confidential support group where men come together to talk openly about what’s going on in their lives. This is an opportunity where men can come together in a relaxed friendly atmosphere to share their questions, concerns, and experiences of living with cancer diagnosis.  This group is facilitated and supported by a male counsellor.

Prostate Cancer Group
This six week course, aimed at men diagnosed with prostate cancer, provides education and support, as well as the opportunity to meet other men in similar situation and share experiences.

Women’s Support Group

This is a confidential support group where women come together to share experiences, emotions, and challenges in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment. They can express their concerns, questions and experiences while living with a cancer diagnosis. This group is facilitated by a female counsellor.

Thrive & Survive Programme
This is a 6 week programme which give participants the skills to coordinate all the things needed to manage their health, as well as to help keep active in their lives and relationships. Participants learn new knowledge, acquire skills in using strategies and techniques, and gain higher confidence and motivation to manage their health after treatment ends.

Empower: Menopause & Cancer Survivorship Programme
This is an eight week in-person survivorship group programme for those impacted by chemically and surgically induced menopause as a result of cancer treatments. Participants watch pre-recorded modules by expert contributors who address the physical, emotional, and psychological symptoms generally experienced. Participants also spend time with other with similar experiences for support. It is a place for people to share their experiences, feelings and knowledge, with the confidence that everything said is confidential.

  • Explaining the physical and psychological symptoms
  • How to manage symptoms such as fatigue
  • Losses associated with menopause and cancer, and sexual intimacy
  • Mood

  • Sleep disturbance

Caring For A Person Diagnosed With Cancer
The carers group provides coping strategies for the carers of people diagnosed with advanced cancer.

Early Menopause
A programme which provides information for women experiencing early menopause due to cancer treatments.

Climb Programme
This six-week programme is designed especially for children of primary school-going age (5-11 years) who have a parent or a significant adult who has been diagnosed with cancer. The sessions are designed to be fun and involve discussion, art and play to assist children to understand and express the feeling they have.

Bereavement Group
This programme is for those bereaved by cancer.

Nutrition Talks
We hold nutrition talks for both clients and the general public a number of times through the year.

Osteoporosis Talks
Chemotherapy, steroid medication or hormonal therapy may cause osteoporosis which is the thinning of the bones. We hold osteoporosis talks for both clients and the general public a number of times through the year.
